Mangoes and Pakistan

Pakistani mangoes are one of the most famous fruit around the world. Countries like the UK, the US, Japan, China, UAE, Gulf countries, Malaysia etc are the biggest markets of Pakistani mangoes. They are yellow in color and have sweet smell. The famous sorts of Pakistani mangoes are “white Chaunsa” and “Sindhri”.

My Story

The sweet smell of mangoes will force you to eat them more and more. People along the roads sell the mangoes, that is something strange for many Foreigners. When I saw mangoes selling along the roads for the 1st time, I was totally confused and shocked. What these people are doing and what is this yellow thing? Than my husband told me that these are mangoes and these people are selling them on Thela Carts. So I went out of the car and saw them for the very first time, they were all yellow, it smelled very sweet.

Mango Spain

Here in Europe we have mangoes from Spain “a greenish reddish thing” which are called “Parrot mango”, but odorless and have sour taste. But due to the sweet smell I had decided to “lets give it a try”. I still remember my Husband pour them for about 12 Hours in the fresh water. The reason he told me that the are very hot by nature and could create stomach disorder if eaten directly.

So when I tried it for the 1st time, I got stuck to it. I wanted to eat more and more. I eat almost 3 at a time. They were very sweet like honey and the aroma was very special, I never smell something before.

The best time to eat the mangoes in Pakistan starts in Summer from June till September.

It’s a kind of Pakistani tradition. People exchange mango boxes with each other. A box contains sometime 10 kg sometime 15 kg. The price depends on the quality and quantity of the Fruit. The higher the quality is the higher the price would be. People sell milk shakes, juices, ice creams, smoothies and enjoy their vacations in Pakistan.
